The Province of Mary Help of Christians is organizing this pilgrimage, which began on August 17. Salesian Cooperators from three other provinces in the Region are also participating. They tell us about it this way:
Medjugorje 2025: Pilgrimage with Mary, returning with a renewed heart.
We have experienced intense days of grace in Medjugorje. More than a journey, it has been a true inner journey, where every step on the mountain, every shared prayer, and every silence inhabited by God has become an experience of encounter. We come from different parts of Spain, but from the first moment we discovered ourselves as a family, united by faith and the Salesian charism. As our Project for Apostolic Life reminds us, “Salesian Cooperators feel an intimate solidarity with the society in which they live and in which they are called to be light, salt, and leaven” (PVA, art. 16). In recent days, this call to be light has become palpable: in the Stations of the Cross offered by our families, in the moving Eucharist celebrated, in the testimonies that touched our hearts, and in the trusting prayer before Mary, Queen of Peace. One of the greatest gifts we have received has been the experience of the Cyrenians: brothers and sisters who, with simplicity and love, helped others ascend and descend the Mount of Apparitions and the Mount of the Cross. With their hands, their words of encouragement, and their shared staff, they reminded us that no one walks alone, that the cross becomes more bearable when it is shared. It was also a source of profound joy to share with the Brotherhood of Tears of Guadix, who were on pilgrimage, and we celebrated with them the arrival of a new image of the Virgin, Queen of Peace, for their association, a sign of communion and sending forth, which reminded us that Mary continues to be a Mother who accompanies, unites, and renews the faith of her children. We have experienced the strength of community, where every gesture of fraternity—an outstretched hand, a smile, a shared prayerful silence—was a sign of God’s presence. As Don Bosco said, “Holiness consists in always being joyful.” That joy, simple and profound, accompanied us every day, even in our tiredness. We return home with hearts enlarged. Medjugorje does not end here: it begins in our families, in our local centers, in every young person and every brother or sister we are called to serve. Mary, Queen of Peace, sends us once again into the world to be witnesses of hope, humble servants, and bearers of the joy of the Gospel.
