Costa Rica – February 2024 – The Salesian Cooperators of the Inter-American region held virtually their first regional training meeting of 2024 on Saturday, February 24. With the theme “A lifestyle for sustainable development”, taught by Cinzia Arena , administrator emeritus of the Association of Salesian Cooperators.
Cinzia developed her presentation by highlighting that sustainable development is based on sharing responsibilities, talents and good practices, leaving the individualistic logic, the result of unbridled capitalism, to adopt a new lifestyle that considers the well-being of present and future generations, building together. She invited us to offer people an optimistic view of the present and hope for the future; only with this awareness can we be an example of a different lifestyle and generate happiness.
At the close of her presentation, Cinzia presented a list of 13 sustainable and supportive behaviors, based on the reflections that have emerged from the various debates in which she has participated on the topic of sustainability.
Next, the regional advisor, Martín Calderón made a general conclusion on the topic of the 150 years of the founding of the Association. Then Juanita Silva, responsible for training in the region, reported on the following workshops to be held during the year:
