Valencia Spain. Tribute to Vicente Morillo

Province of San José.

On Sunday, January 28, within all the Celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the Work of San Antonio Abad of Valencia, the Tribute to D. Vicente Morillo, former student and Salesian cooperator (for more than 40 years), who is in charge of the entire administrative part of the Parish among many other things.

At this Eucharist he came accompanied by his entire family, his friends, the Salesians who know him and have been with him this time, the Salesian cooperators and the entire parish community that wanted to celebrate this day with him.

This tribute was a thank you for all the time dedicated in these years and for his great dedication to this Work with the Salesian charism that accompanies it, and what better way to express it than with the words that our parish priest, Santi Muñoz, said in the Homily:

“…we celebrate this Eucharist with a festive heart because we recognize and give thanks for having in our community a person who has lived, and continues to do so, with the determination to be a follower of Jesus and his faithful friend every day, our Alumni and Salesian Cooperator, D. Vicente Morillo…

…I give thanks again for Don Vicente. I think we are all clear that he is not a leader, but, like all of us, he knows himself to be an ambassador of God. During all these years in the community he has tried to bear all the fruit he could, in his honest life he has wanted to be, among us, a testimony of the good news of God. The authority with which he has taught us has been that of humility, service, detail, the desire that nothing is never lacking to celebrate our faith in community, the perseverance and transparency in his secretarial and accounting work… and in all that long list of attentions that Don Vicente carries out in silence and out of love for this Parish, but above all for this community…

…Thank you again to Don Vicente for his contribution in all these years to make this community a space of good, of peace, of harmony. For having a word that has not been talk but concrete action that transforms and converts.”

Seeing people like D. Vicente helps us understand that everything we do and the dedication we have when we do something for others will also help us to ensure that our lives follow that same Salesian Charisma that emerges in this Work that It has been in Valencia for 125 years, and in which we are growing as Christians and as people. Thank you for keeping us expectant in Faith.
