On a day marked by emotion and fraternity, the Salesian Family commemorated yesterday the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Salesian Cooperators by St John Bosco. Seville became the centre of a celebration that united Don Bosco’s tradition with the challenges of the future in the Iberian Region.

Not even the persistent rain could dampen the festive spirit of the Provincial Assembly. Nearly 800 members from the Canary Islands, Extremadura and Andalusia gathered to renew a commitment born in 1876.

A historic procession and faith in the Cathedral The day began with a symbolic procession from the Church of Santa Cruz to Seville Cathedral, carrying the images of Don Bosco and Mary Help of Christians.

Inside the Cathedral, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime presided over a solemn Eucharist. The most moving moment came when 31 aspirants made their Promise publicly.

Fraternity and fidelity at the Trinity Afterwards, participants gathered at the Trinity School to share four paellas in a warm family atmosphere.

Salesian evening and institutional act Cardinal Artime offered profound reflections on Salesian charity lived in daily life. Nico Montero performed three beloved songs, and Javi Bernal closed with the hymn “Dreamers of Life”.

The final moment took place in the Basilica of the Trinity, with the presentation of silver insignia to ten members celebrating 25 years of fidelity, followed by the renewal of the Promise.

A message of future from Rome Borja Pérez, World Councillor for the Iberian Region, sent a letter from Rome highlighting the relevance of the Salesian mission and encouraging Cooperators to continue dreaming with boldness and tenderness.

The day ended with gratitude and the conviction that the apostolic project born 150 years ago remains fully alive.
