The Church of Senhor Bom Jesus do Horto, in Juazeiro do Norte/CE is a dream of the Servant of God, Father Cícero Romão. Promised since 1899, the long-awaited temple will be dedicated on February 3, 2024, fulfilling the wish of the Patriarch of the Northeast.
It was Father Cícero Romão Batista who brought the Congregation of Salesians to Juazeiro, contributing to the installation of the Salesian College and other activities present in the city. The arrival of the Salesian congregation took place in 1938, four years after the death of Father Cícero, with the idea of educating and evangelizing the young people of Cariri.
From January 29th to February 4th, 2024, the Salesian Province of São Luiz Gonzaga, in Recife (PE), welcomes the superior general of the Salesians of Don Bosco, the Rector Major Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime. And among the objectives of the visit are: to celebrate Don Bosco, participate in the Dedication of the Church of Senhor Bom Jesus (Juazeiro do Norte) and declare the Servant of God Father Cícero Romão Batista as a Salesian Cooperator.
