Promises in the Mary Help of Christians Community of the Municipality of Andes (Antioquia – Colombia)

On Sunday, 19 July 2026, in the Mary Help of Christians Community in the municipality of Andes (Antioquia – Colombia), Angela María Vélez Holguín and Mateo Ramírez Medina, a married couple, made their Promise as Salesian Cooperators. The Provincial Delegate, Sr Margarita María Fonnegra; the Provincial Delegate, Fr Ricardo Villanueva, who presided over the Eucharist; the Provincial Coordinator, Luis Guillermo Franco; and the Provincial Formation Coordinator, Mónica María Cardona, accompanied the Promise on behalf of the Provincial Council.

The Word of God, through the parable of the wheat and the weeds, shed light on this important event for the Association and invited us to trust in God’s silent action and in his grace, which can transform life. Indeed, as Salesian Cooperators, we are called to educate and evangelize, and to cultivate the wheat patiently in the heart of the world and in everyday life.

For the Medellín Province, this Promise is a sign of God’s blessing. It is especially meaningful that a young married couple completed their formation journey together, matured their choice as a couple, and today offered their generous “Yes” to the Lord as Salesian Cooperators. Their challenge now is to continue cultivating this seed, to become hidden and humble leaven in the dough of humanity, and to respond to the faithfulness of God, who never leaves us alone and always gives us his Holy Spirit, the love of the Father and the Son.

After the Promise, we enjoyed a fraternal gathering with the FMA Community of Andes, and we look forward to a renewed vocational and missionary impetus in the Local Centre of Andes.
