LAST MEETING OF THE YEAR OF THE REGIONAL COUNCIL OF THE PACIFIC CARIBBEAN SOUTH REGION

LAST MEETING OF THE YEAR OF THE REGIONAL COUNCIL OF THE PACIFIC CARIBBEAN SOUTH REGION

On Tuesday, December 23, the meeting of the Council of the Pacific Caribbean South Region of the Association of Salesian Cooperators was held — a fraternal space that strengthened regional communion and allowed the sharing of relevant information for the associative journey. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of participation, co-responsibility, and Salesian spirit, reflecting the members’ commitment to the mission and charism of Don Bosco.

One of the central topics was the presentation of details of the upcoming 6th World Congress of the Association of Salesian Cooperators, which will take place from May 6 to 9 in Rome, within the celebration of the Association’s 150th anniversary. It was reported that the region will participate with 23 congress members, who will represent the different provinces and contribute their experiences and reflections to this important international gathering.

During the meeting, the general agenda of the Congress was presented, highlighting that on three of the event’s days, participants will be able to join celebrations of special significance, such as the Opening Eucharist, the celebration of the Association’s 150 years, and the Eucharist with the installation of the new World Coordinator of the Salesian Cooperators.

The active participation of the young representatives of the region was also emphasized, as they are part of various Congress commissions. In this context, the work of Andrea Montenegro in gathering old photographs from the provinces was highlighted, as well as the contribution of Carolina Quintero in developing the choreography for the Congress hymn. This hymn is being developed in Ecuador with the support of Deacon Cristian Chávez, SDB, as a valuable contribution of the region to the world event.

Information was also shared about the Mayoriano Project, indicating that the Pacific Caribbean South Region is participating with a project presented by the province of Ecuador, reflecting the pastoral and social commitment of the region. Finally, the 2026 regional agenda was presented, including formation activities and visits to the provinces. The meeting concluded with a prayer and a message of Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year for all members of the region, from Fr. David Marín, SDB – delegate for the Region.
