The Consultation of the Pacific-Caribbean Region, in a recent meeting, reviewed the guidelines sent by the World Secretariat and elected Carolina Quintero, SC (Province of Ecuador) and Andrea Montenegro, SC (Province of Colombia – Bogotá) as Youth Delegates to represent the Region at the World Congress to be held in May 2026 in Rome.

This decision is based on the commitment, pastoral, and missionary work that both have demonstrated within the Association.

Following the example of Don Bosco, pilgrims, leaving traces of love in missions.

One of the themes marking the 2025 Strenna is the 150th anniversary of the first missionary expedition to South America. We Salesians go to places where we can help and serve young people, especially those most in need, following the good example of our patron.

During Holy Week, the Salesian Cooperators were on missions, along with the young people of the Salesian Youth and other members of the Salesian Family. The formation days were the first step for the young missionaries and the faithful brothers who accompanied them on this journey. Young people helping other young people; this inspires us to live “The challenge of walking together with hope.”

Starting on Monday, April 14, the group of missionaries traveled to the designated locations to share with people, especially children and young people, an atmosphere of spiritual reflection and fraternity with laughter, games, and prayer. At the same time, other brothers worked in their respective parishes, animating the Holy Week celebrations. And you know what? This makes me think that it is also an experience of the works of mercy, which are concrete paths to living in love.

The missions are that visible face of God’s love in the world, a caress for those who suffer, and a living witness of the faith.
