ASC-FIN holds Youth Assembly
Manila, Philippines (January 2025). Total of 180 young people joined the 2025 Youth Assembly with the theme “Pangarap at Pagasa ng Kabataang Salesyano” (Dreams and Hope of Salesian Youth) organized by the Provincial Youth Council on January 11, 2025 at Colle Bosco Philippines in Laguna Province. The whole day event aimed at gathering both the young Salesian Cooperators and their invitees for potential members as an opportunity to reflect on the theme of the Jubilee year together with the ongoing preparation towards 150th foundation anniversary of the Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASC). It was also an opportunity to orient the new invite about the ASC and the vocation of the members to love and serve the young especially the poor. “It was a very cool and engaging activity, I am thankful to be invited and have come to attend” (Shyla Caraan, 26 years old, participant).
The program started with animation songs, and the formal Welcome remarks by World Council for EAO, Meldy Benitez-Dometita followed by sharing of young Cooperators, Mary Faith Garrate. After engaging the participants in youth activities, the Holy Eucharistic celebration was presided by FIN Provincial Superior elect Fr. Ronilo Javines, SDB. The activity was capped with words of thanks from the Provincial Coordinator, Yolly Ortiz.
The activity registered overwhelming presence of young people with older members giving support as volunteers, facilitators and organizers. The Province Youth Council led by Councilor Avic Vera mobilized the youth in-charge of respective Local Centers in staging the historic event.#
