The Salesian Cooperators of the Dominican Republic met at the Salesian Training and Promotion Center of Jarabacoa to celebrate the 2024 Annual Assembly, under the theme: “Dreaming to transform hearts.”
The activities began on January 5 with a representation of Don Bosco’s Nine Years’ Dream, followed by the presentation of the stories of the local SSCC centers, some testimonies and the exchange of different reflections.
On the second day, Father Juan Linares, SDB, led a reflection session on the Rector Major’s Strenna 2024, entitled “The dream that makes you dream. A heart that transforms “wolves” into “lambs””, interpreting it as a challenge for the Association to renew and strengthen itself in the ongoing growth process. Then, the SSCC lived the oratory experience by meeting about a hundred children from the “La Joya” community of Jarabacoa. Together, SSCC and young people shared animations, songs and a representation of the Epiphany, and the children received gifts from the Three Wise Men.
Finally, on Sunday, January 7, the work of the assembly concluded with the reflections of the Provincial Coordinator of the SSCC of the Antilles, José Francisco Ortega, who invited those present and the association in general to introspect on the vocation of the Salesian Cooperator and his role among today’s recipients.
