Family gathering. 60 years of Hogares Don Bosco.

🇬🇧 Celebrating 60 years of life is a great event that deserves to be lived and remembered. Even more so when it means 60 years of fidelity to the values of Christian marriage. The Hogares Don Bosco of Spain have celebrated this event as it deserves. Sixty years have passed since that distant 1965 when a group of Christian couples from Cuenca, inspired by the Salesian spirit, began a journey that has brought us to the present day. On December 6, 7 and 8, 2025, a group of more than 70 couples, many of them with their young children, gathered at the Major Seminary of Granada to celebrate this great event. Sixty years of fidelity, of commitment to marital values, of encounter with the sacrament and, above all, of reaffirming that the family continues to be the fundamental nucleus where those baptized in Jesus find the foundation of our faith.

These were days of celebration, prayer and reflection in which the Hogares Don Bosco, coming from different parts of our geography, demonstrated their fidelity to the ideals of the movement and to the values that the family can transmit and continues to transmit today. During these days we were fortunate to have speakers who helped us deepen the value of marriage. We had the participation of Fano and Unai Quirós, who offered an inspiring catechesis on the meaning of the Rosary lived as a family. Alejandro Guevara helped us reflect on the challenges that today’s society presents to Christian families. The couples present, together with the Salesians and Salesian Sisters accompanying us, gathered in working groups to propose ways to respond to these challenges. Leisure moments were led by Nico Montero, whose voice accompanied us in a magnificent evening, and Buzetti Clown, with whom we shared joyful moments of laughter with the most vulnerable. There was also a moment for a Marian walk through Granada, drawing inspiration from Mary as a point of support and example of the family of Nazareth. Finally, the celebration of the 60th anniversary culminated in a Eucharist presided over by the Provincial of Mary Help of Christians, Fr. Fernando Miranda. During the celebration, a simple tribute was paid to the couples who have left their mark on the movement’s animation over the years, as well as to those celebrating 25 years of fidelity.

The meeting was also attended by Fr. Joan Lluís Playá, Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family.

In short, days lived to the fullest, which are undoubtedly a source of inspiration to continue another 60 years of journey as a family — as a Christian family and as a Salesian family.
