Sister Maria Troncatti: a saint with a Salesian heart
On October 20, the Church joyfully celebrated the canonization of Sister Maria Troncatti, Daughter of Mary Help of Christians, missionary in the Ecuadorian Amazon and living witness of the Salesian charism. Her life, given with tenderness and courage in service to the poorest, especially the Shuar people, reminds us that holiness is built in daily life: in every gesture of love, every word of comfort, every act of hope. Sister Maria not only healed bodies, but also hearts. Her firm faith, simple joy, and deep trust in God reflected what it means “to be a sign and bearer of God’s love to the young.” As Salesian Cooperators, her example invites us to renew our mission: to serve with humility, to share with joy, and to live with active faith in the world. Today, Sister Maria Troncatti is a saint; but above all, she is a guide in our Salesian journey.

Dear Salesian Cooperator Family of Ecuador,
With profound joy, we want to share the beautiful journey we are experiencing through the pastoral visits via Zoom being conducted by our Provincial Council of Ecuador. These meetings, simple in form but immense in spirit, have become a true space for listening, closeness, and Salesian fraternity.
Each meeting has been an opportunity to look into the heart of our centers: their joys, challenges, hopes, and projects. Even through a screen, we feel the warmth of a fraternal embrace and the certainty that we walk together, guided by the Spirit and by Don Bosco’s dream.
The Provincial Council, in a spirit of service, has wanted to be present to accompany, encourage, and strengthen our mission. And we, as a family, have responded with openness, affection, and a deep desire to continue growing in communion.
May these pastoral visits renew our commitment to the Project of Apostolic Life and inspire us to continue being signs of hope, especially in this time when unity and accompaniment are so necessary.
