A key moment of evaluation, sharing and renewed commitment for the future of the Association of Salesian Cooperators of the Italy Middle East Malta Region took place on September 12–13 at the National Centre for Salesian Works in Rome. The meeting, entitled “Formarsi per Formare” (“Training to Form”), focused on the journey of initial formation.

Since the official launch of the new initial formation pathway for accompanying aspiring Salesian Cooperators — presented in Florence in 2025 — the need had emerged to bring together the Provincial Formation Coordinators. The main objective was to take stock of the current situation, assess how the new proposal is being implemented in the different Provinces, and identify good practices, challenges and prospects for further development.

The Initial Formation Team actively participated in the meeting. This working group devoted two years of study and discussion to drafting the new text and its accompanying guidelines. Their presence ensured direct dialogue with the Provincial Formation Coordinators, providing clear pedagogical and spiritual perspectives and gathering the feedback needed to accompany aspiring Salesian Cooperators more effectively in their vocational discernment.

The meeting in Rome confirmed the vitality of the Region and the shared commitment to offering future Salesian Cooperators a solid and unified formation journey, capable of responding to today’s educational and pastoral challenges.
