Colombia: Celebrating the 150th Anniversary

CELEBRATION OF THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SALESIAN COOPERATORS

On August 1, at the motherhouse of the Salesian community in Colombia, Colegio León XIII, the Association of Salesian Cooperators of the Bogotá Province was invited by Fr. Rubén Darío Jaramillo, Provincial Superior of the San Pedro Claver Province of Bogotá, to celebrate, as brothers and sisters united in the charism and mission, the 150th anniversary of its foundation.

In an atmosphere of Salesian joy and thanksgiving for our Holy Founder, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated, praying for deceased Salesian Cooperators and entrusting the future of the Association to the Lord. During the celebration, the Apostolic Promise was also renewed.

We then gathered for a discussion in which the conclusions of the 6th World Congress of the Association were shared. The session was opened by Fr. Jonathan Camilo Plazas, SDB, Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Cooperators, and the Provincial Coordinator, Mr. Diego Andrés Rodríguez. Echoing the words of the Rector Major — “Look, listen, choose and act” — former Provincial Coordinators Stella Martínez, Irma Inés Ramos and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez shared their experiences and encouraged the apostolic renewal of the Association.

After the fraternal gathering offered by the Salesian Province, the participants returned to their Local Centres with a clear mission: to continue being Salesians in the world, rekindling the charism in others and reaffirming their apostolic commitment to “Da mihi animas, caetera tolle.”
