Celebration of the 150th Anniversary in the St. James the Greater Province

On Saturday, 27 June, we experienced an unforgettable day at the Don Bosco Centre in León as part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Association of Salesian Cooperators. After a welcome coffee, around 75 participants from the Local Centres of the St. James the Greater Province and from the various groups of the Salesian Family in the north-western area of the Province gathered to share a day marked by fraternity and joy.

We were joined by the Provincial, José Carlos Sobejano, and by the newly elected World Coordinator of the Salesian Cooperators, Borja Pérez, who made his first official visit to a Province following his election at the 6th World Congress and warmly greeted all those present.

The opening prayer and the procession of banners bearing words such as Call, Mission, Charity, Communion, Fidelity, and Service helped us reflect more deeply on the vocation of the Salesian Cooperator. Afterwards, a panel discussion highlighted the richness and diversity of the different groups of the Salesian Family. At its conclusion, the Provincial reminded us of the importance of walking together as one true family, in which every group has equal value.

The stained-glass windows of the Holy Cathedral Church of León provided the setting for the Eucharistic Celebration of Thanksgiving, presided over by Bishop Luis Ángel de las Heras, who highlighted the contribution of the Salesian Family to the life of the Church.

The celebration concluded with a concert by the Salesian Cooperator singer-songwriter Nico Montero at the Parish of St. John of Regla, providing a magnificent conclusion to a day that will remain in the memories of all who took part.
