Spirituality Days: Rekindling Spiritual Life in the Light of the Acts of General Chapter 29

On the weekend of September 26–27, 2026, the Spirituality Days were held at the Pio XI Institute in Alto da Lapa, São Paulo, Brazil, under the theme “Rekindling Spiritual Life in the Light of the Acts of General Chapter 29.” The retreat was intended for Salesian Cooperators who have made their Promise, as well as aspirants.

The gathering began in the morning with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Alexandre (Provincial), followed by a moment of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Later that morning, Fr Maurício (Vice-Provincial) began the reflection on the theme “The Centrality of Christ and Care for One’s Vocation”: Salesian life and mission are founded on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Cultivating prayer, the Word of God, and sacramental life helps strengthen one’s vocation and overcome superficial spirituality.

After lunch, Fr Maurício continued the reflection with two themes: “Fraternity and Care for the Poor”: fraternity is part of Salesian identity and is expressed through communion, sharing, and caring for others. It is also a call to remain close to the poor and, especially, to young people most in need. And “Sharing Spirituality and Mission in the EPC”: Salesians, lay people, and young people are called to walk together, sharing faith, spirituality, and mission. Co-responsibility strengthens the Salesian presence and renews the common commitment to evangelization and young people.

We concluded the day’s reflections with the recitation of the Rosary, led by Sr Ana Alzira (FMA), who accompanied the mysteries with stories and reflections on the life and work of Mother Mazzarello.

On Sunday morning, we began with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Maurício. We concluded the retreat with a reflection offered by the married couple Renata and Danilo on the theme “Strategies for a Life of Prayer as Lay People.” During their presentation, they brought a very special visit from Our Lady as a Child, which deeply moved everyone.
