Salesian Cooperators of Mexico South Province celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Association

On Saturday, May 9, several centres of the Mexico South Province gathered for an emotional celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Association of Salesian Cooperators. The Eucharist took place at Mary Help of Christians Parish in Mexico City.

The Mass was presided over by the Provincial, Fr Juan Aarón Cerezo Huerta, SDB, and concelebrated by Salesian priests Hugo Herrera Rosales, delegate for the Salesian Family; Jorge Zárate, Youth Ministry coordinator; Cirilo Valdez; and Marcos Escobedo, delegate of the Nazareth Centre. Sr Leticia Navarrete, FMA, provincial delegate of the Salesian Family, was also present.

The centres of María Auxiliadora, Domingo Savio, Cristo Rey, Nazareth and Centro Unión (Mexico City), as well as Maín, Don Bosco Sports Centre, Madre Antonieta Böhm, Crimabo and Mairó Don Bosco (State of Mexico), participated with great joy.

After the celebration, participants enjoyed a fraternal gathering with food, activities and games that strengthened the bonds of friendship and family spirit.

150th anniversary celebration in El Salvador – CAM North Province On May 9, the Salesian Cooperators of El Salvador celebrated the anniversary with gratitude. The day began with a Eucharist presided over by Fr Edward de la O. During the celebration, the Cooperators renewed their Promise.

A fraternal gathering followed, during which seven Cooperators were honoured for 25 years of fidelity. Members of the Salesian Family participated, strengthening communion and shared mission.

Costa Rica celebrates 150 years of history, commitment and mission – CAM South Province On May 9, 2026, the Salesian Cooperators of Costa Rica celebrated the anniversary at the Santo Domingo Savio Salesian Centre. Under the motto “Be leaven to be fruitful”, the event gathered members from various centres, aspirants, MJS representatives and guests.

The Eucharist was presided over by Fr Roberto Henríquez, SDB, accompanied by several Salesian priests. The programme included audiovisual materials, a tribute to deceased members and recognitions for delegates and Cooperators with 25+ years of service.

Puerto Rico celebrates the 150th anniversary – Antilles Province On May 16, at Mary Help of Christians Parish in Cantera, the Cooperators celebrated with a Eucharist presided over by Fr Jorge González, SDB. They honoured deceased Cooperators and recognised former National Coordinators. Messages from the Rector Major, the World Councillor Martín Calderón and the Provincial Delegate of the FMA were shared.

San Francisco (USA West): retreat and renewal of Promises The local centres of Watsonville, Richmond, Saints Peter & Paul and Corpus Christi gathered for a retreat with Eucharist, renewal of Promises, reflection and fraternity. The retreat deepened the Salesian mission and the needs of young people in the Province.

First National Meeting of Salesian Cooperators in Canada 🇨🇦 From May 15 to 17, 48 Cooperators gathered in Montreal for their first National Meeting, also celebrating the 150th anniversary. World Councillor Martín Calderón offered a reflection on the Strenna. The new Provincial Council presented its plan and the meeting concluded with an outdoor rosary, a Salesian celebration and a closing Eucharist with renewal of Promises.

Mexico North celebrates Mary Help of Christians and the 150th anniversary On May 24, the Osvaldo Gorzegno Centre in Ciudad Juárez celebrated with a Eucharist presided over by Fr Agustín Novoa. A fraternal gathering followed, renewing gratitude for 150 years of mission.
